Fusing a new hiphop sound with soul of the 70s & the smooth groove of 90s slow jams, Cee Nario brings a new flavor to the R&B scene with soothing vocals over a hot SoulChef ambient-soul instrumental canvas that will have you either vibing in the club, bumping it in your car, or sitting back and relaxing as it pumps through your home speakers!

Originally produced, written, and recorded during the summer of 2010, "Subway" laid dormant among the musical archives of both singer Cee Nario and producer SoulChef. They continued working together on and off through the years as they focused on their own individual and group projects, but in late 2017, Cee Nario began performing the "new" song for the first time at live shows. After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response, Cee Nario decided it was time to dust off the original song, remaster the track, and plan a music video. With SoulChef on board, the duo decided to independently release their first official single together in Spring 2018 for the masses to enjoy.

Cee Nario is a passionate performer, telling tales of deep emotion. Through creative use of harmony and heartfelt songwriting, his soulful approach to melodic expression is a refreshing remix of genres. With rhythmic roots in soul, hip-hop, and latin pop, Cee Nario is able to both blend and transcend musical styles with his songs. From singing with internationally published hip-hop group The Antidotes to embarking on a campaign with the Jalapeno Brothers to encourage young people to exercise their rights, Cee Nario is a well-rounded artist ready to share his addictive sound with the world as both a solo artist and frequent collaborator with other very talented artists, songwriters, and producers from around the globe including SoulChef, Jo Well, DviousMindz, Robert de Boron, and Hawdwerk. Cee Nario has appeared on U.S. Spanish-language television networks Telemundo and Mundo Fox as a part of the Jalapeno Brothers, and has shared the stage with notable hip-hop acts including Rapsody, Blu & Exile, Dom Kennedy, Watsky, Deante Hitchcock, and Dag Savage.

SoulChef is a hip-hop producer from Auckland, New Zealand with a heavily soul-infused sound. His music is a smooth and versatile blend of Jazz, Soul and Hip-Hop. He has an incredibly extensive and eclectic catalog of music, including several full-length instrumental albums. In addition, he has released projects where he not only produced the beats, but successfully acted in the role of producer in the traditional sense by recruiting various talented artists (rappers and singers) to work alongside him on full length projects. Most recently, SoulChef released LPs with American/South African hip-hop duo Part Time Cooks as well as multiple projects with Los Angeles-based emcee Nieve.

Cee Nario & SoulChef met online in 2010 while working together on songs for the Japanese label Goon Trax/Media Factory and eventually began collaborating on different independent projects, writing and producing for other groups and artists. Now, they bring you their first official offering together - Subway.

lyrics

One for the treble
Two for the bass
And I guarantee...
Cee Nario and SoulChef...

One for the money, two for the go
Three to get ready, and four so u can show me your... (Show me your ticket, ticket)
Straight to the back, you can hide
Sippin’ your way to the high life
(So tell me why you trippin’, trippin’?)

Places to go, ‘cause in your house no ones home
(No pain, no shame, the underground train, your brain remain drained, [so wasted])
Hey love, hey love, they care for you
But you were on your way downtown
And u know, I got to hold u down... (Issue this warning)

Don't stay too long on that subway
(Or you may end up on these streets, on these streets, on these streets [on these streets])
Don't you get caught up on that subway
(Or you may end up on these streets, on these streets, on these streets [on these streets])

Forget who you know, you’ve got places to go,
(No pain, no shame, the underground train, your brain remain drained, [so wasted])
Hey love, hey love, they came for you
But you were on your way downtown
And you know, I’m ‘a hold u down... (Issue this warning)

Don't stay too long on that subway
(Or you may end up on these streets [streets!], on these streets [streets!], on these streets [on these streets], on these streets [on these streets...])
Don't you get caught up on that subway
(Or you may end up on these streets, on these streets, on these streets, on these streets...)
Come home... come home...
